The Women of Mexilog Fest 2024 - pt. 1
June 21, 2024MexilogFest 2024 was held this year in Mazatlan at a left-hand pointbreak called Los Pinos. Located in the southern part of town on a little stretch of beach. The contest was held on May 18th to May 25th 2024. 11 days of surfing, comraderie, and having fun at the beach and at night in the various events organized by Israel Preciado (the contest mastermind). This year I was fortunate enough to be able to go and document this now famous contest that is world-renowned. 50 women from around the globe made it out to compete in the celebrated event. The format is each competidor surfs three 20 minute heats where their top 2 waves are scored. The top wave score from the 3 heats is added to the overall score. From there the top 16 Women compete for a spot in the finals. For the first two days documented here I made sure to photograph mostly the lifestyle and competitors of the contest after their heats. Most of the pictures are taken with my Nikon D780 camera and I took some medium-format portraits with my Mamiya C330 on a variety of film stocks which I will mention under each foto.
